Miners Ridge like to create a relaxed and casual experience for all our visitors. We are all about the wine and our vineyard! That said, we acknowledge that some people don’t drink wine, or like to have a ‘palette cleanser’ after their tasting. Some of you will know that I don’t mind a beer so when Sam from Middle Island Brewing Co. was visiting with family in the area, and he popped into our Wine Tasting Room, it got me thinking. . . .
Middle Island Brewing Co. are a family-owned small batch brewing company from Warrnambool, Victoria and we are excited to now stock all 4 of their delicious craft beers.

The Guardian
Named after the Maremma dogs that have guarded the penguins on Middle Island. The Guardian is a 3.5% mid strength ale that is full of flavour. It has a beautiful amber color from the pale malt and is full of tropical, citrus, and floral hops that bring out lots of fruity flavors and aromas. Mid strength beer is increasing in popularity; however, they can lack in taste and body… something ‘The Guardian’ does not!

Southern Ocean Ale
Southern Ocean Ale is an XPA (Extra Pale Ale) style of beer that is light in colour but bold in flavour. Brewed with a smooth blend of Pilsner, Wheat Malts and Flaked Oats. Dry hopped with a combination of Vic Secret and Amarillo to give our beer refreshing, tropical, stone fruit and citrus flavours. It has a high bitterness that still drinks smooth with its crisp finish.

Howling Hefe
Howling Hefe is our take on the German Wheat beer classic, Hefeweizen. It’s hazy like the fine sea spray over Thunder Point but also crisp with a touch of dryness. Traditional banana and clove aromas and the late addition of Galaxy hops gives an Aussie passionfruit twist to this German classic. Howling Hefe is the perfect beer for a picnic in the warmer months or nestled around a cosy fire protected from the howling winds of Winter.

Get Shuck’d
Get Shuck’d is our signature oatmeal stout with a difference. Two row and roasted barley, a generous amount of rolled oats and just a touch of black malt give this stout plenty of body and bitterness. A lavish helping of rock oysters added late in the boil add a unique saltiness that only the ocean provides.
