Red Series Ballarat

Andrew and I will be attending the Red Series in Ballarat for the first time this year, introducing Miners Ridge Wines to some new customers. 

The Red Series is held each year at the historic Mining Exchange building, just a short walk from Ballarat’s train station. The venue offers a heated indoor space, enhancing the warm and inviting atmosphere. The Pyrenees, Grampians, and Ballarat wine regions are renowned for their 160-year winemaking history, breathtaking landscapes, and down-to-earth winemakers. At the Red Series, you can sample fine wines from 22 top wineries. Whether you’re a seasoned connoisseur or exploring new tastes, there’s something for everyone, and we hope to see you there.

The Grampians wine region is coming to Melbourne for ONE NIGHT ONLY!

Grampians in a Glass will see us joined by 16 other Grampians Wineries in the city for an event filled with delicious discovery.

The collective of 17 winemakers from the Grampians will be setting up an urban cellar door experiences at Victoria by Farmer’s Daughter at Federation Square for an evening of wine and delicious paired food featuring Victorian produce.

Taste more than 50 hand-crafted wines from both large and boutique wineries like us surrounding the towns of Great Western, Ararat, Buangor, Moyston and Halls Gap.

Discover something different at the pop-up interactive cellar door stations as you taste wines the region is famed for and discover new favorites, with new-season releases, cellar door exclusives and back vintages all on offer.

Top seller at this year’s Grampians Grape Escape!

Our often forgotten, quiet achiever of a wine was a big hit over the weekend at the Grampians Grape Escape. It seems people are enjoying trying the ‘out of the usual box’ varieties. It was our biggest seller of the weekend!

Last year we were honored to pick up a trophy for this Viognier at the Western Victorian Wine Show, ‘Other White Wine and Rose’ section’.

And that’s a wrap for Vintage 2024. After thinking it was going to be an early vintage, turns out it was pretty normal!

The first to be picked this year was the Chardonnay from our newly reworked grafted block. All the newly grafted blocks require handpicking in their first year of production so as not to damage the graft…….. so, a lot more handpicking than normal this year.

The first week also saw us pick some Riesling, a bit of Shiraz and Tempranillo for our new Rose’. It was certainly a busy start to vintage.

Handpicking joy!

The vintage has been amazing and the quality fantastic, but it has not passed without some stress along the way! We dodged a couple of fires and subsequent smoke in the area, a ridiculous amount of rain in 48 hours and the usual attack of the wildlife! Kangaroos and Wallabies have been hungry again this year, but we also had to deal with birds who were out to do their worst!
