March and April has been crazy busy here at Miners Ridge. Vintage started in early March with our Tempranillo being picked first, followed by Chardonnay, Riesling, Shiraz, Cabernet and the last variety being Viognier! Predominantly machine picked with some hand picking in the mix as well. We enlisted the help of our Niece and Nephew to help with some hand picking introducing them to all the glamour of vineyard work!
This year we experienced low yields, there were a number of reasons for this including, hungry kangaroos, poor fruit set in Spring, and because of such big crops in the previous year. Quality is all there and the 2022 vintage is already shaping up to be a cracker.
In amongst all the crazy that is vintage, we also popped up with our wines at a few events including the Pyrenees Unearthed, Halls Gap Market and the Grampians Grape Escape. It is fantastic to see events back on again and people have certainly been enjoying getting back out and about.
In addition to taking our wines to events we have also been busy in our Cellar Door over Easter and the long weekend. Our Cellar Door is open by appointment so if you are in the area please contact us to make a time to visit.
New releases……… having sold out of our straight Shiraz we are looking forward to seeing our 2021 Shiraz’s get in the bottle. Our Shiraz along with our Viognier will be bottled in the next month or so and be available at the start of September.
